Why a centric mouse?
A mouse next to the keyboard requires reaching sideways and keeping the arm out of the body for long periods of time. This can strain the muscles around the neck and shoulder. The ErgoSlider+ is centrally located in front of the body, allowing the arms to stay closer to the torso. Research into mouse positions found a more neutral posture of the wrist, upper arm and shoulder when placed centrally (Dennerlein & Johnson, 2006). In addition, the controls can be divided between both hands. This method is aimed at limiting unilateral strain that can contribute to neck, shoulder and arm complaints.
